On Friday the baseball teams had a great morning practice.  After practice the team stopped off at the hotel for a shower before taking the party downtown for a visit to the world famous "Varsity" and then to the campus of Georgia Tech as the Yellow Jackets hosted UNC in the first game of a big ACC match-up.

Thursday rain :(

After losing a game to a rainout on Thursday, the Tigers had a great practice inside the indoor facility at 6-4-3 Baseball.  

The Tigers then headed to Dave and Buster's for some lunch and little arcade action.  I'm not sure who won the most tickets, but you can tell  that most of the boys haven't really changed that much since they were younger.  They still compete for tickets and then head to the cashier to cash them in and see what trinket a few thousand tickets will buy.

Saturday, March 21

On Saturday, it will be Tiger vs Tiger as Woodberry travels to Fayette County, GA to take on the home-standing Tigers.  Game time is noon.  Again, Mr. Greg Jacobs will broadcast the game.

Coming Friday...

On Friday morning the team will again travel to the home of 6-4-3 Baseball to practice and prepare for Saturday's doubleheader versus Fayette County High School.

The Tigers will then travel to Atlanta's iconic restaurant, the Varsity, for lunch and a truly unique experience.  "What'll ya have???"

      





After a private tour of the Georgia Tech baseball facilities and a chance to watch pregame BP, the team will get a chance to relax and take in another great college game as the Tar Heels of UNC visit the 'Ramblin Wreck of Georgia Tech in the opening game of a big ACC weekend series.

Tuesday in Atlanta

On Tuesday the Tigers got in their first real workout of the spring as we took to the field for a two hour practice at the home of 6-4-3 Baseball in Marietta, GA.  After a quick trip back to the hotel to shower up, we all enjoyed a Mexican feast a Papasito's Mexican Cantina.  The Papasito's staff was tremendous and the kitchen created a special menu, tailor-made for our Tigers.  Here are some pictures from the event.  That evening we traveled about 10 miles north of the hotel to watch Kennesaw State host Georgia Tech in a college baseball game.  It was a beautiful evening and the boys had a great time.  Though they had recently eaten about a $1000 in Mexican food, as you can see, they quickly found the way to the concession stand as well :)

Big Win!

The Varsity Baseball team recorded a victory over a very talented East Cobb Baseball Academy squad by a score of 11-3 this evening.  The Tigers were led by Christian Zaytoun's very efficient four innings on the hill, as Christian needed only a little more than 40 pitches to complete the four innings, allowing no hits while striking out six and walking one batter.  Zaytoun also finished 3 for 4 at the plate with 2 doubles and 4 runs driven in.  Jack Eades followed Zaytoun to the mound, pitching one inning and striking out one while allowing a hit.  Evans Riviere worked the sixth allowing three runs, one earned.  Third former, Cameron Hill, saved two more runs with a diving catch in centerfield with two outs in the inning.  Andrew Holmes pitched a three up/three down seventh inning, with a strike out to end the game.  Besides Zaytoun's efforts at the plate, the Tigers were led by MacLindsay Mitchell's and Hill's 3 for 4 nights; each with two stolen bases as well.  Hill doubled twice and scored two runs while driving in a run.  Mitchell scored three times and drove in a run.  Patrick McDonald was a very timely 2 for 3 with three scored and two driven in.  Eades also contributed a hit and a run scored.  Andrew Shobe went hitless on the night, but drove in two runs with a very unselfish approach at the plate.  All told the Tigers banged out 12 hits and stole six bases.  The Tigers moved to 1-0-1 on the young season and return to action noon Saturday with a doubleheader at Fayette County, GA.  The team was thrilled that Mr. Greg Jacobs took time from his spring break to travel to Atlanta and broadcast a few games.

The JV Tigers also took on East Cobb Baseball Academy after the completion of the Varsity game.  Playing the same team as the Varsity squad, the did not fare as well, as you might imagine, but did show glimpses of what promises to be a talented group.

Play Ball!!!

The Varsity Baseball squad opened its season with a hard-fought 4-4 tie vs Woodward Academy in 8 innings.  With both Woodberry and Woodward scheduled to play multiple times later this week, it was agreed that the game would last a maximum of 8 innings; which it did.  With coaches from Campbell University and Berry College in attendance, MacLindsay Mitchell opened his 2015 campaign by striking out 4 batters in three innings of work.  Andrew Harris threw an inning in relief, failing to give up an earned run.  Patrick McDonald threw three 3-hit innings and CoCo Clay made his varsity debut on the hill with an inning of scoreless relief in the bottom of the 8th; three up/three down.  Offensively, the Tigers had but five hits on the day, the big blow a three-run inside-the-park home run off the bat of Mitchell in the 3rd inning.  It was a legit inside the park homerun, no errors, as Mac tore around the bases after hitting a screamer over the centerfielder's head.  The Tigers return to the field on Wednesday at 6PM with a Varsity/JV doubleheader against East Cobb Baseball. Tomorrow the Tigers will practice in the morning, eat lunch at Papasito's Mexican Cantina and watch Kennesaw State host Georgia Tech tomorrow night.  Greg Jacobs will broadcast the games on Wednesday.
